You’re reading the Substack version of my Spotify Wrapped 2022. Looking for the plaintext version on sourcehut, WordPress.com or mirror.xyz version? You’re got covered! Delays may happen while cross-posting elsewhere, but I’m preparing them up behind the scenes.

Spotify Wrapped 2022 has joined the chat, and I also rewind into my 2021 listening data from Last.fm and ListenBrainz (because importing them all from YT + Spotify before I start the scrobbling process is probably not work, and I'm still waiting for this year's music data without paying for Last.fm Pro yet). Instead of yet another bloody Twitter thread like I did last year, let's dump it here as a blog post and chill in these New Year Mixes I did.

(2022-12-31) Editor Andrei Jiroh here! If you’re looking for my top songs this year in playlist, click here to open in Spotify or use the embed below. Enjoy the new year!

The data at hand

Here's this year's activity from January to November 2022 in the Spotify app below. It would be fun if I also use YouTube Music on the web, but I'm more on audio than video when it comes with podcasts.

  • Streaming hours in Spotify app: 7,850 (72% of other listeners in PH)
  • Top 5 genres: Gaming EDM, EDM, Pop, Chiptune, Synthwave
  • Top 5 artists: Isaac Wilkins, Jules Gaia, Lupus Nocte, ColBreakz, AGST
  • Top 3 podcasts: Today Explained, I Spent A Day With, Teka Teka News

Podcasts might not be scrobbled in Last.fm and Listenbrainz for a lot of reasons, but here's my last year's data while we count down into the new year. And due to some issues during the year, some scrobbles might not be recorded on last.fm and instead only exists on ListenBrainz, so expect some differences on stats.

  • Top 5 genres (or tags): Dubstep, Electronic, Brostep, Candian, Dance
  • Top 5 artists: ColBreakz, MUST DIE, Honest Government Ad (really?), Linus Tech Tips (not Drop Tips), Nitro Fun
  • Last year's scrobbles: 9,426 (most active month: April 2021 with 1,725 Scrobbles; most active day: May 9 with 119 Scrobbles; Streak: 80 Days in a row)
  • Stats: 2,105 Tracks from 882 Artists over 833 Albums
  • Listening Clock: 08:00-02:00 (Most active hour: 13:00 with 841 scrobbles)

See more data over at my last year's listening report here (I don't have Lat.fm pro, I repeat) and here if you want to go interactive. If you're reading this in 2023 and beyond, check the archives here and here on archive.today.

Quick question: Why dafuq you still showing us your #SpotifyWrapped when there's your scrobbles?

I know you're screaming because Last.fm/ListenBrainz is a bit overpowered for your taste, and probably the mess over the creation of the story format you see today.

What about <Netlify/Reddit/insert other stuff here>?

I'm just dumping the photos of these in one Google Photos album, since we might run out of time for the year-end reflection post of sorts (coming this January 2023 hopefully, check your inbox soon!)

That's all in this post!

It's a rollercoaster hellscape this year in my listening stats! Hope you enjoyed the holidays season and if you're doing firecrackers for the New year (like here in the Philippines) or making noises at the garage, stay safe from the virus and (hopefully this didn't happen within the subdivision) losing some or all of your fingers.
